Do Not be a Victim of Online Advertisement Scam!

There are NOT many platforms that gives you the opportunity to represent your event. Infact we can count the few that are around and they can either fall into two categories -extremely expensive or free. Expectedly the free ones cannot afford to represent your events and so try as they may- your event is as good on their listing as it would be if you didn't bother to tell anyone about them.

Promoters often knows that free platforms brings little or no benefits and so they resort to the paying solutions of high price- even hundreds of pounds per month. Afterall they cannot just sit there and hope for the best, they have to feel like that are actually doing something about maximising there turnout. Right?

But there are some things that you need to consider before you throw your hard earned cash on these campaigns. If you follow these steps, the next decision that you make will be a wise and not a foolish one.

  1. No doubt your advertiser will claim to have 1000s if not millions of clicks-you need to ask them the countries that are involved in that stats and what percentage of that is the UK. To let you in on a bit of secret- most Christian websites in the Western world especially those that are news oriented receive a high volume click from third world countries. Unless your target audience is in India, you may be wasting alot of money.
  2.  Ask to see a report of the stats to the website or if you are running a campaign to your link
  3. Do not get trapped into paying for cost per impression. This means nothing- it's like saying that because your banner is on a page that it will be seen by visitors. You need to pay for a set period of time.
  4.  Designing service; Why do you need to pay to have a banner designed that will make the promoter money? If they cannot design a banner for free then think again.
  5.  Watch out for multiple stacked rotational banners. You will find that you may never be seen. The most suitable option is a rotational banner that users can flick through.
  6.  Find out the percentage of denominations that uses the website- by now you must know that denominational barriers is a contributing factor and so if you are a Catholic hosting a mass- you probably will not get alot of Pentecostals turning up to join you.
  7.  I always say if you cannot give something of value- don't give! How valuable is the listing that is been offered? Are you limited and not able to represent your event to the fullest. "I can offer you a place for your telephone number but you will have to pay for a website link". These are not real solutions with your event at heart, it's a means to make money!
  8.  I love this one! How can I take you where I haven't been? Take a look around and see where your promoter is listed. Check Google, Yahoo and Bing and see how well they rank! Chances are, if you cannot find someone that you expect to promote you- no one else can! Check the news, press release, expertise in their field and so on...
  9.  On the same note, how much are they paying for advertisement, such like....
  10. Lastly, How do they intend to offer you a continuos solution? Promoting an event is not ONE OFF it's a continuos process!

These are just some points to get you thinking. Before you ACT! THINK!
